Tanner Slick (they/them) uses space, sound and stories to evoke wonder in and connection to the wild expanse of this world. Through sculpture, installation, audio storytelling, community events, collective living projects and tales of rambling adventures they express vulnerable observation of the complex and contradictory experience of life on earth. Rooted in trans existence, these creations are part of a bigger mission to disrupt and re-design ruinous systemic restrictions on minds, bodies and place.

For the last decade I have been an independent designer and custom carpenter, in which I primarily work for/with southern movement-based organizations and community members to build physical spaces to reflect the ideological values of the social, political and cultural work. Recently, I had the honor to design and build the Taylor Ethridge Memorial Library (2026) at The MURPH (Multi-Use Radical People’s Hall) in Atlanta’s Historic West End.

As of 2026, my creative and professional focus shifted to audio storytelling, radio production and community education in carpentry and woodworking.

I received a BA from Mt. Holyoke College (2008) and an MFA from the University of New Mexico (2021) and attended a PRX Creative Design Workshop (2024) Transom Traveling Workshop (2026) in audio storytelling. I currently live on the unceded homeland of the Muscogee (Creek) and Cherokee peoples in my hometown, Atlanta, GA with a partner and a child.

Whenever there is an open window of time I drift toward the horizon with an audio recorder to see what else is out there.
